Canadian Museum of Nature

Bird & Mammal Galleries

From 2004 to 2010, the Canadian Museum of Nature renovated its historic building, creating new galleries and exhibition spaces. Origin Studios designed and developed the Birds of Canada and Mammals of Canada galleries, two of the museum’s signature spaces that were in need of significant updating. The revitalization included refurbished specimens, updated dioramas, and new illustrations and computer animated content.

Origin Studios’ work encompassed the main display area of the Birds gallery, as well as children’s areas and interactives in both galleries. While respecting traditional specimen presentation, the Birds gallery offers a fresh, contemporary feel that is open, bright, and spacious. Clean-lined, custom-built casework highlights the beauty of the birds and their plumage against a crisp, modern backdrop.
